I see in Book in book twelve great talk of Botany. He goes into great detail on many of the plants, telling us of what their capable of, and their defects. I also see a great descriptiveness of the land and cities surrounding. I imagine that the knowledge of plants was very important knowledge for them at the time, as it still is for us. Not only does he describe the nature in Rome, but in many other countries too, especially India. Perhaps this has to do with the fact that spices were a great rarity, more so than gold, and the biggest income of that came from India. One again, we can catch a glimpse of what is was like to live back then.
