In the weekly sections, (e.g., Week 1), each student is required to submit two (2) conversation starters about the required reading. Basically, write a paragraph (at least 3 sentences, preferably more) about something you took away from the text . . . or a question . . . that you would like to submit for discussion. Simply go the the relevant section for that week, and click "Create Thread" to start the discussion. Please create a different thread for each of the two conversation starters. THESE TWO (2) INITIAL CONVERSATION STARTERS ARE DUE BY 7PM PST ON WEDNESDAYS.
Students are further required to thoughtfully respond to at least two of these conversation starters, thereby promoting an even lengthier discussion. THESE RESPONSES ARE DUE BY 7PM PST ON FRIDAYS.
I will be present and active among the discussions in order to help direct and stimulate fruitful discourse.
Finally, I hope to have a video lecture, or a text-written lecture available to you by 7PM PST on Fridays to assist in the Historical and literary context of our readings. Please be on the lookout for them, as students are required to view them: some test material WILL be taken from these lectures.
