I'm sorry, but in all honesty I did not understand this text at all. I got what he was talking about but not any elaboration. Reading the introduction to the chapters the subjects sounded very interesting; but actually comprehending them is something I was not able to accomplish.

This is not an acceptable comment to be posting at the 11th hour.
First of all, the background to Cicero was found in the lecture for both weeks 6 and 7. This provides many clues as to what Cicero will be trying to do in this text (including the hint that it is a political treatise). Please review this material and re-approach Cicero's text. If you need to google the terms "philosophical dialogue" or "political treatise," that would be understandable as well. It would be unfair to an instructor if he tried to assist someone who he wasn't sure had tried to help themselves first.
Second, if, after reviewing that material, one still does not understand the text, one may certainly contact the instructor for guidance, but much EARLIER in the week. A chef who's helpers tell him "we're out of milk" while he's preparing a feast will certainly ask them "why didn't you check to see if weren't out of milk before now?" Please be more diligent in approaching the readings, and begin reading for class much earlier in the week.
I look forward to seeing your posts for this week. Again, please review the background lectures, and keep me updated on your progress.
